According to the new rules of BCCI, players who have not played international cricket for the last 5 years or who do not have a central contract for the last 5 years or it has been more than five years since they retired from international cricket. He can play in IPL as an uncapped player. After the introduction of this rule, there is a possibility that CSK can retain Dhoni (MS Dhoni) as an uncapped player for Rs 4 crore. At the same time, now franchise CEO Vishwanathan has reacted in an interview to the speculations about Dhoni playing in IPL 2025.

Vishwanathan said that he wants Dhoni to play in the CSK team, but Dhoni has not confirmed it to him yet. Dhoni says that he will tell them about this before October 31. The CSK CEO further said that he is hopeful that Dhoni will play. If Dhoni says yes, then he can be retained for only Rs 4 crore as he has not played any international match after 2019. This qualifies Dhoni as an 'uncapped' player.

Let us tell you that MS Dhoni is among those players who have played all the seasons of IPL so far. Talking about Dhoni's IPL career, he has scored 5243 runs in 264 matches played so far at an average of 39.13 and strike-rate of 137.54. During this period he also has 24 half-centuries to his name.
