Mobile companies preparing to increase tariffs
Mobile users in India are going to get a big surprise this month. The offer of cheap prepaid plans by major telecom companies seems to be coming to an end as they are going to increase their recharge rates.
Airtel and Vi rate hike: Jio’s competitive stance
According to recent reports, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea (Vi) have decided to increase the prices of their prepaid plans. At the same time, while maintaining competition, Reliance Jio has not made any change in the rates yet.
Due to increase in tariff
Companies say that the costs of network maintenance, spectrum charges and infrastructure upgrades are continuously increasing. Additionally, inflation and regulatory pressures have limited profit margins. In this situation, increasing tariffs has become a necessary measure.
Estimates of recent expenditure growth
According to sources, there is a possibility of a rate increase of 10 to 20 percent in prepaid plans of ₹199 to ₹599. Additionally, packs with unlimited calling, SMS and OTT subscription will also see minor adjustments.
Impact on customers and choices
Customers may have to spend more immediately, but the long-term benefits of this investment will be better network coverage, faster data speeds and 5G services. Many customers may turn to Jio or postpaid plans, which have slower turnaround times and more benefits.
- Airtel’s ₹398 vs ₹399 plans: 2.5GB daily data and JioHotstar benefits at just Re 1 difference.
- Vi recharge plans under ₹200: Great plans with unlimited calling and data available.
