Will Virat Kohli play in M Chinnaswamy Stadium or not? This committee will decide

There is suspense over Virat Kohli playing Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) matches at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Kohli is going to play the first two matches of the VHT 2025-26 season for Delhi. Both these matches are to be held at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru but Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has not been able to get the approval to hold the match here.

Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara, while talking to reporters on Monday (December 22), said that KSCA has sought permission to hold the Vijay Hazare Trophy match in an empty stadium. He said that a committee has been formed to give approval for holding the match, which will visit the stadium and submit a report. After G Parameshwara’s statement, there is doubt over Kohli’s return to M Chinnaswamy.

meeting held in the assembly

G Parameshwara said that a meeting was held in the Assembly with KSCA officials, senior administrative officials and police officials regarding holding the match at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. However, he has not yet told clearly whether permission will be given to hold the match or not.

Let us tell you that on June 4, during the celebration of RCB’s IPL title win, 11 people were killed in a stampede outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, after which the organization of big events here was stopped. The hosting of Women’s World Cup matches was snatched from M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Also, there is little possibility of IPL matches being held here.

Who is in the committee?

Karnataka Home Minister said, ‘We have formed a committee under the chairmanship of the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) Commissioner. This committee includes the Police Commissioner, Public Works Department, Fire and Health Department officials, who will visit the stadium and give a report. G Parameshwara further said that KSCA has sought permission for Vijay Hazare Trophy matches as well as IPL matches, for which there is still time.
