Winmart operator reports first profit since 2021

WinCommerce, the operator of Winmart retail chain, has reported profits of VND20 billion (US$787,400) for the third quarter, its first quarterly profit since 2021.

It had revenues of VND8.6 trillion, up 9.1% year-on-year, according to a report by its parent company Masan Group.

It has 3,733 outlets, including 60 new ones opened in the third quarter.

WinCommerce has been focusing on developing specific store models for different customer groups.

Apart from its traditional store format WinMart+, it has WIN for urban customers and WinMart+ Rural, which reported 11.5% and 12.5% and growth in sales during the quarter.

Other businesses under Masan also achieved strong results. Overall, Masan’s revenues rose by 6.6% to VND21.49 trillion.

Its post-tax profits were up 2.7 times to VND1.3 trillion, the highest in two and a half years.
