Winter Health Tips: Ingredients

  • Amla – 500 grams
  • Mustard oil- 200 grams
  • Asafoetida – 1/4 teaspoon
  • Fenugreek seeds- 2 teaspoons
  • Celery- 1 teaspoon
  • Salt- 4 to 5 teaspoons
  • Turmeric powder- 2 teaspoons
  • Red chilli powder- 1 teaspoon
  • Yellow mustard – 4 spoons
  • Fennel powder- 2 teaspoons

Method

  • 1-To make gooseberry pickle, first wash, dry the gooseberry and wipe off the water. Keep the gooseberry in a deep vessel. Add about one and a half cups of water and boil it. When they are cooked, turn off the gas.
  • 2- Remove the water from the Indian gooseberry, separate all the pieces and remove the seeds. Now heat oil in a pan. When the oil becomes very hot, turn off the gas. Add asafoetida and fenugreek seeds in it. Also add celery.
  • 3- After frying for a few seconds, add turmeric powder, red chili powder, yellow mustard and grind them coarsely. Add salt also. Now add all the gooseberry slices in this masala. Stir well with the help of a spoon. Amla pickle is ready.
  • 4- Let this pickle cool down. When it cools down, fill it in a glass jar and keep it. Keep stirring it up and down with the help of a spoon for about three to four days. So that all the spices mix well in each Amla. This pickle is ready to eat.
