Winter session of Delhi Assembly from January 5, strong uproar expected over CAG reports
digital desk- With the beginning of the new year, political activity is going to intensify in the capital Delhi. The winter session of Delhi Assembly will start from January 5 and continue till January 8, 2026. The political temperature already seems to be rising regarding this four-day session. There are full chances of a heated debate and uproar between the government and the opposition in the House, especially regarding the five important reports of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), which will be presented in the House during this period. The winter session will begin on January 5, 2026 at 11 am with the address of Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena. However, in view of the long-standing differences between the Delhi Government and the Lieutenant Governor, there may be sharp reactions in the House during this address. Even in the past sessions, there has been a situation of confrontation between the opposition and the ruling party during the LG’s address.
CAG reports will be presented on five different issues
CAG reports are being considered as the biggest and sensitive issue of this session. According to sources, five different CAG reports will be placed in the Assembly. These reports generally contain detailed descriptions of shortcomings in the implementation of government schemes, budgetary expenditure, administrative processes and departmental functioning. In such a situation, political debate and allegations and counter-allegations are likely to intensify as soon as these reports become public. The opposition party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has already indicated that it will put the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in the dock on the basis of these reports.
Irregularities mentioned in CAG reports- BJP
BJP leaders say that if financial irregularities or administrative negligence are mentioned in the CAG reports, then the government will have to answer. The party is preparing to adopt an aggressive stance on this issue during the session. At the same time, the Aam Aadmi Party government says that it is ready to discuss every issue and will answer the allegations of the opposition with facts. The ruling party claims that an unnecessary political atmosphere is being created regarding the CAG reports and the opposition wants to use them only to create ruckus.
