Winter session of Parliament ends, 'Khaya Piya Kuchh Nahin, Glass Toda Bara Aana'… – ..


The winter session of Parliament was marred by uproar. The Parliament session started with much noise. First the Adani issue, then George Soros and now the Ambedkar issue, which also affected the proceedings of Parliament. In this session, only 40.03 percent work was done in the Rajya Sabha, while the work in the Lok Sabha remained the same to some extent. Even in the Lok Sabha, only 57.87 percent work was done. On Friday, 12 Rajya Sabha MPs were nominated in the JPC being held for One Nation One Election in Rajya Sabha. After this the proceedings of the House were adjourned indefinitely. The opposition demonstrated when the proceedings began in the morning. After which the proceedings of the House were adjourned for some time. After which the Speaker held a meeting with House Leader JP Nadda and Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge. The proposal to name 12 members of JPC was passed by voice vote. In the concluding speech of the session, Speaker Jagdeep Dhankhar said that 40.03 percent work was done in this session. Only 43 hours 27 minutes of work could be done in the entire session. On the issue of uproar in Parliament, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said that I appeal to the leaders of all political parties that they should think why the productivity of Parliament is deteriorating. We should try to take the productivity of Parliament above 100 percent, not below it. The Union Minister said that in this session of Parliament, 20 Lok Sabha and 19 Rajya Sabha meetings were held in 26 days. During this period, four bills were passed in the Lok Sabha and three in the Rajya Sabha.

One Nation, One Election Lok Sabha sent to JPC

Amidst the uproar on Friday, the Lok Sabha sent two bills related to One Nation-One Election to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC). Opposition MPs raised slogans during the proceedings of the House. Meanwhile, Speaker Om Birla asked Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal to move a proposal to send the Constitution (129th Amendment) Bill 2024 and the Union Territory Legislation (Amendment) Bill 2024 to the JPC.

No-confidence motion brought against Vice President

For the first time in the winter session of Parliament, the opposition presented a no-confidence motion against Rajya Sabha Speaker Jagdeep Dhankhar. More than 60 opposition MPs signed the no-confidence motion. However, the Vice President rejected the notice as there were not enough days for notice.
