Asked to establish relations with the country head, also pressurized for religious conversion; Former Wipro employee makes serious allegations against female boss
A female employee, who worked at Wipro’s Pune campus, has accused her former female boss of harassing her on religious grounds and pressurizing her for religious conversion. The woman says that she had to leave the job due to constant mental harassment and alleged pressure. He has lodged a complaint with the police regarding the matter and has also approached the State Human Rights Commission.
According to the complainant, while working at the Wipro office in Hinjewadi, Pune, some senior officers and team leaders targeted him because of his religious beliefs. The woman alleges that she was constantly put under mental pressure to accept Islam and follow the religious practices related to it. When she protested against this, her alleged harassment at the workplace increased. His manager also threatened to give him a bad performance review and fire him from the job. Due to constant stress and mental distress he ultimately had to leave the job.
“Hindus trap women”
The complainant says, “These people trap Hindu women and put pressure on them, forcing them to choose between two things – either agree to their demands or leave their jobs… It was important for me to bring to the world the attention of the harassment and torture I have faced in the last ten months… When we complain about these incidents to the company, they ignore them and the matter is hush-hushed up.”
The victim said, “Shahina Rafiq started harassing me from the very first day of my job. She tried to persuade me to have physical relations with Country Head Ramkumar, so that using that contact, I could be transferred to Dubai; where she could get me married to a Sheikh, so that I could get both financial advancement and sexual gratification…”
She further says, “I lodged a complaint yesterday. I have been called today in connection with the FIR. They have said that they will investigate the matter, after which an FIR will be formally registered. On April 24, 2026, we raised this issue once again. This happened after my resignation, when I asked them why I was fired from the job, and to give a concrete reason for it… My demand is simple – I want my job back… I want the job. It was illegal. Secondly, a dedicated institutional mechanism should be set up in every private sector organisation.
