Wipro Launches AI-Dedicated Business Unit, Shuffles Top Management

IT giant Wipro has kicked off the new financial year with a bold move—launching a dedicated AI-focused business unit. This strategic shift signals the company’s intent to strengthen its position in the rapidly evolving artificial intelligence space and transition toward an AI-first operating model.

The newly formed “AI-Native Business and Platforms” unit will focus on building advanced AI-driven solutions and scaling digital platforms for global clients.

New AI Unit to Drive Innovation

The AI unit will consolidate Wipro’s existing platform assets across industries such as healthcare, aviation, and financial services, while also incubating new AI-led business lines.

The goal is to accelerate the development of enterprise-grade “agentic AI” solutions and create a “services as software” model—where traditional IT services are enhanced with automation and intelligence.

This move reflects a broader industry trend where IT companies are shifting from service-based delivery to scalable, AI-powered platforms.

Leadership Reshuffle at the Top

As part of this transformation, Wipro has appointed Nagendra Bandaru as CEO of the newly created AI unit. A veteran with nearly three decades at the company, Bandaru will lead AI strategy and execution.

To fill his previous role, Kanwar Singh, a former Accenture leader, has been brought in as President and Managing Partner of Technology Services.

Additionally, Suzanne Dann, CEO of the Americas-2 unit, has stepped down, marking a significant change in Wipro’s global leadership structure.

Why This Move Matters

This restructuring is not just about leadership—it’s a clear signal of Wipro’s long-term vision. The company aims to deepen its capabilities in AI, data, and automation while delivering outcome-driven solutions to clients.

With enterprises increasingly adopting AI for efficiency and innovation, Wipro’s pivot positions it to compete more aggressively with global IT leaders.

The Road Ahead for Wipro

By integrating AI into its core services and building new revenue streams, Wipro is laying the foundation for scalable growth. The company’s “invest-build-partner” strategy will also enable collaboration with startups and technology partners to accelerate innovation.

As the IT services industry undergoes a major transformation, Wipro’s AI-first approach could define its next phase of growth and global competitiveness.
