Six days left for the end of the financial year, 40 percent of the budget could not be spent, using the entire budget in one working day became a difficult task for the departments.
Lucknow. Not even a week is left for the end of the financial year 2025-26. Despite this, all the departments of UP together have been able to spend only 60 percent of the total budget of the government so far. If the department has to utilize its entire budget, then it will have to spend 40 percent of the remaining budget in one working day, which does not seem possible.

In the fiscal year 2025-26, the Yogi government had presented an original budget of Rs 8.08 lakh crore, while with the supplement its size increased to Rs 8.65 lakh crore. At the same time, so far in March, all the departments together have been able to spend only approximately Rs 5.19 lakh crore. The condition of some departments is so bad in spending the budget that they have not been able to spend even 50 percent of the provisioned amount. Sources reveal that in the recent cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had expressed his displeasure over the slowness in utilizing the budget.
