With World Cup 2026 approaching, Neymar’s emotional reset becomes Brazil’s biggest hope
As the countdown to the 2026 FIFA World Cup grows louder, Brazil’s preparations have taken an unexpected emotional turn, one centred around their biggest star, Neymar Jr. The forward has revealed that this season pushed him to one of the lowest points of his career, forcing him to seek psychological help after what he described as an “emotional state hitting zero.”
The turning point came after a highly criticised performance against Flamengo. Neymar admitted the pressure and volume of criticism this time were unlike anything he had faced before. Known for his resilience and ability to shoulder expectations, he confessed that this season he no longer had the strength to stand back up on his own. Asking for help, he said, was a first in his professional journey.
Crucially, Neymar credited his coach, teammates, and family for playing an important role in helping him regain stability. Their support, he said, “brought him back to his level” at a time when he felt depleted.
Despite having undergone therapy in the past, he clarified that earlier sessions were more about self-improvement rather than emotional survival. This season, however, was different, this was the first time he truly felt overwhelmed.
