Without coaching, 22 year old Muskaan Jindal became IFS officer in her first attempt, fulfilled her father’s dream

But Muskaan Jindal, a resident of Himachal Pradesh, changed this thinking. She set a new example by passing the UPSC exam in the first attempt, without any coaching, and getting selected in the Indian Foreign Service (IFS).
Extraordinary Success from an Ordinary Family (UPSC Success Story)
Muskaan Jindal is a resident of Baddi area of Solan district of Himachal Pradesh. Her father is a businessman, while mother is a housewife. The family always gave importance to studies, the effect of which is clearly visible in Muskaan’s educational achievements. Since childhood, she continued to move forward with discipline and self-reliance.
Excellent academic record
Muskaan completed her 12th standard from a private school in Baddi. She stood first in the school by securing 96.4 percent marks in the 12th board examination. After this, she took a B.Com Honors degree from SD College, Chandigarh. During her college days, she had made civil services her goal.
UPSC preparation at home
Muskaan started preparing for UPSC during her graduation. She used to study for about 4 to 5 hours daily and focused on understanding the syllabus deeply. She did not take the help of any kind of expensive coaching or institute. NCERT books, standard reference books and current affairs were the basis of her preparation.
Historic success achieved in first attempt
After graduation, due to her low age, Muskaan took a break of one year and appeared in the examination with complete strategy. She secured 87th rank in the UPSC results declared in the year 2019. Getting IFS cadre at the age of just 22 is considered a big achievement in itself.
Smile became inspiration for youth
Muskaan Jindal believes that confidence, consistency and hard work in the right direction are most important for an examination like UPSC. She says that limited resources never become a hindrance in the path of success. Today her success gives a message to millions of youth that an examination like UPSC can be passed even without coaching and in the first attempt.
