Wizz Air pilot reveals ‘best seats’ to sit on plane | Travel News | Travel
It’s always worth knowing random tips and tricks when it comes to flying, especially during the chaotic summer season. Ensuring the smoothest possible journey is imperative, and it helps to know which tips come from experts.
Pilot-in-training and former cabin crew member, Sebastien Harrison, has revealed the “best seats” to sit on on a plane. Currently on the Wizz Air Cabin Crew to Captain programme, which he started in 2024, Sebastien has been flying for over two years. If you experience travel sickness due to turbulence sensitivity or anxiety, seat 15 might be the best place for you, according to the pilot. On Wizz Air flights, this row is the typical standard over-wing emergency exit row.
These seats have extra leg room and are situated over the wing of the middle aft section. Since they sit near the centre of gravity, they experience the least amount of turbulence.
Sebastien told The Sun: “The best seats in the plane for turbulence are on or about row 15; this is because if the plane is pitching up or down during turbulence in the middle of the plane, there is less movement.”
The 20-year-old added that it’s always a good idea to inform the crew if you are a nervous flyer, as they can provide reassurance during the flight.
While it can’t always be guaranteed that you get the specific seat you want on a plane, Wizz Air has another tip for its passengers. The tip comes as hundreds of thousands of Brits face being trapped inqueues of up to five hours at European airports this summer amid controversial new border checks.
Since the introduction of EU entry/exit systems, travellers from non-EU countries, like Britain, are required to undergo fingerprint and photographic checks, massively extending queues.
Hence, passengers have been encouraged to bring items such as portable chargers with them. Wizz Air’s Yvonne Moynihan previously told the BBC: “When you land in the destination airport, there might be queues, so you should bring a portable charger or water.”
Wizz Air also recommends getting to the airport an hour earlier than normal. Usually, passengers should arrive at the airport two hours ahead of their flight, “but in these circumstances, we are advising three hours,” she said.
