Moradabad. It will give you goosebumps to hear what happened to a newlywed just a few months after her marriage. The woman has made such serious allegations against nine people of her in-laws that even the police were stunned. The biggest shock is that the sister-in-law herself has been accused of rape, while even her husband, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law and sister-in-law are accused of harassing her and threatening her to remain silent.
Who is the victim and what happened to her?
A 23-year-old newly married woman living in Civil Lines police station area of Moradabad has made a sensational allegation of rape against her brother-in-law (husband’s sister’s husband). Along with this, she has filed a case of dowry harassment, assault and threats against a total of nine in-laws including her husband, mother-in-law, father-in-law, two brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law and sister-in-law.
The woman told that she was married with great pomp to a young man from a village in Salempur police station area of Bulandshahr district on December 3, 2023. From the very beginning, her in-laws started taunting her for dowry.
When and where did the incident happen
According to the woman, one day in the first week of May 2024, she was completely alone at home. Husband and others had gone out somewhere. Taking advantage of this opportunity, her brother-in-law entered the house and forcefully raped her.
When the victim told this to her husband and in-laws while crying, everyone lashed out at her. The allegation is that the husband slapped her, the mother-in-law and father-in-law abused her and everyone together said – “Keep your mouth shut otherwise we will kill you.”
Why targeted? greed for dowry
Since marriage, her in-laws were pressurizing her to bring Rs 25 lakh in cash, a luxury car and a plot. The woman’s maternal family was not rich enough to meet these demands. When the demands were not met, daily beatings and taunts started. Then, seeing the opportunity, Nandoi took the most despicable step.
How did the whole matter come to light?
Fed up with the continuous harassment, the victim somehow ran away to her maternal home. When I told the whole story to my parents, the ground slipped under their feet. Then without any delay she went straight to the Civil Lines police station and gave a written complaint.
Civil Lines police station in-charge Lakhpat Singh said, “As soon as we received the woman’s complaint, we immediately registered a case against nine people under various serious sections. All the accused are being searched and will be arrested soon.”
