Woman was bringing gold worth Rs 50 lakh hidden in her private part, arrested by customs department at Delhi airport

A woman has been arrested at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport for hiding gold worth Rs 50 lakh in her private parts and smuggling it across the country. The accused woman was arrested after the Customs Department received intelligence about 681 grams of gold, which she was carrying hidden in her private part in the form of a capsule. It was brought to Delhi from Dubai, Bangkok and Nepal.

The Customs Department said that the accused woman is 44 years old and is a resident of Maharashtra. She was coming to Delhi from Kathmandu on Air India flight 2156, where she was stopped and searched. X-ray examination revealed that there were three oval capsules made of gold paste in his rectum, which weighed 770 grams and were worth Rs 50.03 lakh.

The Customs Department said a case of gold smuggling has been registered against an Indian woman passenger who arrived in New Delhi from T-3, IGI Airport on December 15, 1924 from Kathmandu, Nepal. The woman had filled the gold in a paste-like capsule and hidden it in her private parts.

After a thorough examination of the luggage and personal search of the passenger, three oval-shaped capsules weighing 770 grams, suspected to contain gold in paste form, were recovered from him. Also found was a green and transparent adhesive tape, which the passenger had voluntarily removed from his rectum.

The department said that the female passenger had brought the gold in the form of chemical paste from Dubai, Bangkok and Delhi. Subsequently, it was confiscated under Section 110 of the Customs Act, 1962. Also, on Sunday, December 15, authorities arrested the female passenger under Section 104, a press note said on Tuesday.
