Women are fighting in UP, government gave very good news
Lucknow. The Uttar Pradesh government is taking a big step towards economically empowering rural women. Now milk producing companies will be established in every division, so that women can earn from milk production and the dream of becoming “Lakhpati Didi” can come true.
Statewide expansion of successful model
Some milk producing companies are already active in the state. Thousands of women associated with them are collecting lakhs of liters of milk every day and earning good income. Many of these women have already come into the category of Lakhpati Didi. The government has decided to implement this successful model in the entire state.
Training and market access
Under UPSRLM (Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission), women will be trained and their produced milk will be delivered to organized markets and large institutions. In the first phase of the scheme, work has been started on setting up companies in Lucknow and Prayagraj.
Big goals and impact
So far, more than 1.09 crore rural women have joined UPSRLM in the state. A total of more than 9.11 lakh self-help groups and 63,519 village organizations are working. The government aims to connect three crore women with self-help groups and make one crore women Lakhpati Didi in the next few years.
Balini Milk Producer Company has set new standards of success in Bundelkhand. Under this, about 90 thousand women from 1,351 villages of seven districts are involved in milk collection. Similarly, companies operating in Purvanchal and other areas are also providing employment and income opportunities to women.
