Women dominate in UP, leaving men behind on e-shram portal
Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh has come to the forefront in the country in connecting workers in the unorganized sector with social security and government schemes. The registration figures on the e-Shram portal show that the state has secured the first position in the total number of registered workers.
Till December last year, a total of more than 8.42 crore unorganized workers in Uttar Pradesh have been registered on the e-Shram portal. This is not only the success of the administrative initiative of the state, but is also a symbol of increasing awareness among the workers.
The e-Shram portal creates a national level database of skilled and unskilled workers in the unorganized sector. Workers register through their Aadhaar details, linked mobile number and bank account. According to the Labor Department, after registration, workers get direct benefits of government schemes, social security, information about employment opportunities and help in case of disaster.
women won
The registration figures also show that the participation of women in this achievement has been more than that of men. Of the total registered workers, 52.62 percent are women, while the percentage of men is 47.38. This clearly shows the increasing activism of women and their participation in economic life.
young workers trends
According to age group, maximum 63.39 percent workers are in the age group of 18 to 40 years. The percentage of workers between 40 and 50 years is 20.90 percent, while workers above 50 years are 15.65 percent. This data shows that the youth is increasingly getting attracted towards the e-Shram portal.
Other states compared to UP
Uttar Pradesh is much ahead compared to other states of the country. After this, 3.21 crore workers in Bihar, 2.65 crore workers in West Bengal, 1.91 crore workers in Madhya Pradesh and 1.82 crore workers in Maharashtra are registered on the e-Shram portal.
