‘Women Entrepreneur Award’ gets tremendous response in Punjab, more than 28 thousand nominations
The ‘Women Entrepreneur Award Programme’ launched by the Punjab Government on the occasion of International Women’s Day is becoming very popular among women across the state. This initiative of the government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann aims to promote women entrepreneurship and encourage women to become economically self-reliant. Through this program, those women are being honored who have made remarkable achievements in the field of business or self-employment on their own.
When is the first phase of the campaign?
The first phase of this campaign was organized in all 117 assembly constituencies of Punjab between March 2 and March 6. During this, women associated with business, domestic industry and self-employment in different fields were honored for their hard work and contribution. Around 100 women entrepreneurs from villages and cities in each assembly constituency were recognized for their efforts towards self-reliance.
This initiative of the government has received tremendous response from women. So far, more than 28 thousand women have enrolled through the online portal of ‘Punjab State Rural Livelihood Mission’. Such a large number of applications shows that women in the state are rapidly moving towards entrepreneurship and are taking steps towards becoming economically strong.
Till now, felicitation ceremonies have been successfully organized at the assembly constituency level, where women entrepreneurs were honored in the presence of local public representatives and community members. District and state level events will be organized in the next phase of the program. In these celebrations, the achievements of women working in small business, agro-based activities, domestic industry and service sector will be brought to the fore.
11,700 women entrepreneurs have been honored
The award process under this program is being completed in several phases. About 11,700 women entrepreneurs have been honored at the assembly level. After this, a total of 2,300 women from 23 districts will be selected at the district level. 100 women from every district will be honored for their excellent work and entrepreneurship.
The final phase of the program will be in the form of a state level function to be held on March 18. In this program, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will honor the 100 best women entrepreneurs selected from across Punjab. All these women will also be given a cash award of Rs 25,000 for their achievements.
What is the goal of the government?
The Punjab government is working on a plan to celebrate International Women’s Day as a form of women empowerment for the whole month instead of limiting it to just one day. Through initiatives like ‘Women Entrepreneur Award Programme’, the government aims to inspire more and more women towards business and self-employment, so that they not only become self-reliant but can also become leaders of economic change in their society and community.
This initiative of the government is being widely appreciated in the state and is being considered an important step towards increasing the economic participation of women.
