Women Reservation 50+33 Formula: How much will elections and Parliament change? Political Storm Expected
Indian politics is now at a turning point where the entire equation of power is about to change. The ’50+33′ master plan prepared by the Central Government regarding women’s reservation. It is not just a law but is being considered as a step to redesign the entire picture of democracy. If this formula is implemented, the face of Parliament will change. Seats will increase, equations will change and the strategy of political parties will be completely reset.
The biggest thing is that this time the government is in no mood to wait. Even before the 2029 Lok Sabha elections, preparations to put this scheme on the ground have been intensified. According to sources, there are full preparations to bring the amendment bill in this Parliament session. This means that in the coming years, the entry of women in Indian politics is not going to be just symbolic but decisive.
What is the new formula of ’50+33′?
The government’s plan is clear. First 50% increase in Lok Sabha seats, then 33% of total seats reserved for women. That means it is a double strike. First the number will increase, then the share of women in it will be decided.
How many seats will increase in Lok Sabha?
Currently there are 543 seats in the Lok Sabha. After the proposal this number will increase to approximately 816. This means that the field of politics is going to be bigger and the competition will be even tougher. Out of 816 seats, about 273 seats will be reserved for women, which means for the first time such a large share of women can be seen in Parliament. Will we wait for the census? The government is going to do the delimitation on the basis of 2011 census only, that is, to speed up the process, old data will become the game changer.
How will seats be decided?
‘Draw of lots’ i.e. lottery system will be implemented. This will decide which seat will be reserved for women. With this, efforts will be made to maintain both transparency and rotation. The government’s target is clear that the 2029 Lok Sabha elections should be conducted completely on this new system, that is, the next general elections will be fought on a completely changed map.
What is the stand of the opposition?
The opposition is in principle with women’s reservation, but the challenge is to reach a consensus on seat sharing and delimitation. Amit Shah himself is talking to the opposition on this issue.
New era of politics in 2029
For the first time, such a large number of women will reach Parliament. This is not just women’s reservation, but the “reset button” of politics. Number of seats, election strategy, future of leaders. Everything is about to change. If the ’50+33′ formula is implemented, then the 2029 elections will be the most unique and historic election ever, where the real stake of half the population will be visible in the picture of power.
