Women’s Bundesliga: Freiburg win it comfortably against Koln

New Delhi: It was the fourth matchday og Bundesliga women where FC Koln went face to face against FC Freiburg. Both the sides went into the game with very different perspectives but quite the same aim, as both the sides needed the three points. However, it was freiburg who managed to win it pretty comfortably as the match ended 2-0 in favour of Breisgau Brasilianer.

It was clear that Christian Keller was not pleased with it from the stands. As one of the spectators in the Franz Kremer Stadium on Saturday afternoon, the sports director of 1. FC Köln witnessed a lackluster performance by Daniel Weber’s team. It was a well-earned loss in the end, the third in the last four league games.

Ally Gudorf, a former player for Koln, battled valiantly to win the ball in midfield before the visitors swiftly shifted. With Sara Agrez only partially pressing her, Shekiera Martinez broke free through the midfield and passed to Selina Vobian on the left side of the attack, whose cross Martinez headed in unmarked in the middle to make it 0-1. This header was not invincible, and neither was the Cologne central defense.

Annabel Schasching’s shot was first stopped following a flat cross into the middle. Nevertheless, the Cologne defense was unable to remove the ball from the dangerous area. When the ball found its way to Cora Zicai, she turned and shot unstoppably into the far corner to make it 0–2.
