Women’s Cricket Rankings: India’s opener Shefali Verma has advantage in batsman ranking in ICC top-10, see which legend is at which number.
Dubai. After the latest update of ICC Women’s T20 Player Rankings, South Africa’s top performer has been the big winner. South Africa and India are currently finalizing their preparations for the Women’s T20 World Cup to be held in England and Wales from June 12, which will be a five-match series and the players of both the teams have got a big lead in the updated rankings.
Proteas captain Laura Wolvaardt remains fifth behind Australia’s Georgia Woll in the updated rankings for T20 batsmen after a brilliant half-century in the second game of the series against India, while teammates Anne Dirksen (up 18 places to 33rd) and Sune Luus (up eight places to 35th) have also managed to make it to the list after good contributions in the Durban encounter.
India’s opener Shafali Verma has also seen gains in her batting rankings; after her inning of 57 runs against the Proteas, the right-handed batsman has moved up two places to sixth overall. According to the ICC, Smriti Mandhana (fourth) is the only Indian player ahead of Shafali in the rankings for T20 batsmen, while captain Harmanpreet Kaur (up two places to 11th) is just outside the top 10 after her unbeaten 47-run knock in the series opener against South Africa.
