T20 World Cup will be played from June 12 to July 5.

Dubai. The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday announced a record prize money of Rs 82 crore for the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup. This World Cup will be organized in England and Wales after two months. The total prize money has been increased by 10 percent compared to the previous season.

10 teams had participated in the last season of the tournament, but 12 teams will participate in the upcoming World Cup to be played across seven venues from June 12 to July 5. Its final will be held at Lord’s Cricket Stadium.

The total prize money of the last season held in the UAE was $7,958,077 (approximately Rs 74 crore), which has now increased to $8,764,615 (approximately Rs 82 crore).

The winning team will receive $23,40,000 (approximately Rs 21.8 crore), while the runner-up will receive $11,70,000 (approximately Rs 10 crore).

Teams losing in the semi-finals will get $6,75,000 (about Rs 6.29 crore), while teams that win each group match will get $31,154 (about Rs 29 lakh). ICC said, “All 12 participating teams will receive an assured prize money of at least $2,47,500 (approximately Rs 2.06 crore).

The tournament will begin on June 12 with a match between hosts England and Sri Lanka at Edgbaston, Birmingham. Other teams participating in this World Cup are Australia, Bangladesh, India, Ireland, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, Scotland, South Africa and West Indies. This tournament of 33 matches will run for 24 days.

Meanwhile, the T20 World Cup trophy will tour host cities and culminate in London. Its first stop will be in Scotland from May 7 to 10. ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta said, the development of women’s cricket is continuously increasing. The expansion of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup to 12 teams and record prize money reflects our commitment to building a stronger and more competitive global game.
