There are many benefits of work from home, know what are the disadvantages, this report has arrived.

New Delhi : Working from home (WFH) is beneficial in terms of saving on rent, reducing commuting stress and increasing efficiency for employees, but it is becoming detrimental to effective communication and teamwork. This is also affecting companies. Many types of conclusions have also been reached in a study regarding this.

The report by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) shows that working from home (WFH) has brought a lot of benefits, but it also poses significant challenges for both employers and employees. The study highlights that WFH has led to significant cost savings for organizations and employees. It said that in terms of cost savings, remote working has significantly reduced the commute time and costs of employees and allowed them to live in more affordable areas. This has not only improved their energy levels but also increased their flexibility in choosing affordable residential locations.

However, the study also highlights some disadvantages of remote working. A major concern is the negative impact on effective communication and teamwork. The absence of physical contact has hindered collaboration between employees, which is essential to building trust and solving complex problems.

For organizations, the report noted that remote and hybrid working models have allowed moderate savings on office rental costs and costs associated with client meetings. Additionally, reduced employee commuting and housing costs have enabled limited adjustments in employee compensation structures. These cost savings collectively contribute to improved financial efficiency for both employers and employees.

Additionally, the study warns that WFH can pose challenges to developing and maintaining an organization's culture. Over time, this can impact the building of social, emotional, and human capital, which are considered critical to long-term organizational success.

The report emphasized that while remote working offers tangible short-term benefits, organizations and employees should be mindful of the potential unseen harms it may cause in the future. Balancing flexibility with opportunities for collaboration and interaction may be the way to make remote working sustainable in the long run.

It says these losses are not visible, but are related to the formation and nurturing of social, emotional and human capital. This finding is a point of consideration for organizations looking to adapt their work models to a rapidly changing professional environment.
