World Television Day: With changing times, the rise of home theater and OTT has started increasing, where people enjoy watching movies and their favorite shows on digital platforms only. Why was television called idiot box?
Let us tell you that earlier people knew television as “Idiot Box” or “Budhu Baksa”. People started making jokes about this for the first time. Some people initially thought that while watching television people just sit without thinking and accept whatever is being shown as true, but then with time people started understanding the importance of this stupid box. Where as the trend of television increased, it started attracting everyone towards itself. Earlier television was seen in white and black colors, after which with continuous changes it started coming in color and then flat TV.
Who started first in the world
Let us tell you that the work of bringing TV for the first time around the world was done by a 21 year old Scottish engineer John Logie Baird. It was first invented in the year 1924. After this, in the year 1927, the first working television was manufactured by Farnsworth, it was presented to the press on 01 September 1928. In the year 1928, John Logie Baird invented color television. Public broadcasting started in the year 1940. Apart from this, it is said that in November 1996, the United Nations had organized the first World Television Forum. Many prominent media personalities also participated in it. Here the growing importance of television was discussed. During this time, the United Nations had announced to celebrate World Television Day on 21 November.

When did television come to India?
Here in India, television came for the first time in the year 1959 on 15 September where TV was started under All India Radio. Many changes were made during this period, where the first TV auditorium was built in Akashvani Bhawan, apart from this, let us tell you one more thing that it was inaugurated by President Dr. Rajendra Prasad. The first color telecast of television in India was on 15 August 1982 with Indira Gandhi's speech. After this, serials like Ramayana and Mahabharata started in the nineties.
