World’s best airport to screen all 104 World Cup matches for free

The free screenings run at ST3PS, the public events space in Terminal 3, with additional matches in TV lounges across the transit areas of all four terminals, The Straits Times reported.

For travelers passing through during the June 11-July 19 tournament, the first World Cup contested by 48 teams and the first to span 104 matches, co-hosted by the U.S., Canada and Mexico, it means catching games without leaving the airport, backed by late-night and 24-hour dining.

At the center of the campaign is a short film, “Where The World Comes To Play”, that follows a football passed through some of Changi and Jewel’s most recognizable spots, including the Rain Vortex and The Wonderfall.

According to The Straits Timesit features Singapore national team captain Hariss Harun, coach Gavin Lee and players Jacob Mahler, Shawal Anuar, Kyoga Nakamura and Tyan Foong, with a cameo from local football legend Fandi Ahmad.

Lee said filming in the terminals was a refreshing change from the squad’s routine trips through Changi for overseas training and matches, and a way to connect with supporters ahead of the ASEAN Championship and the Asian Cup.

Fans can also work through a Football Champions Trail, a series of quizzes and challenges in Terminal 3’s public areas that unlock shopping and dining deals worth more than S$50 (US$39), subject to a minimum spend, plus a free ticket worth S$24.90 to the bouncing net at Jewel Canopy Park.

Transit passengers can play balance, strength and reflex games for prizes topped by 200,000 Changi Rewards points worth S$1,000, the aviation outlet aerotime and the marketing trade title Marketing-Interactive reported.

The airport push lands as brands across Singapore chase World Cup attention.

Lenovo, the official technology partner of the tournament, named Fandi its Singapore brand ambassador in a June 11 statement, alongside its own slate of fan activations.

On July 18, Fandi will host a breakfast at Sentosa’s Adventure Cove Waterpark with former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Michael Owen, according to Marketing-Interactive.

He is set to open Lenovo’s Re:Match experience store at *Scape on June 12, and return for a question-and-answer session at the same venue in mid-July.

Lenovo is running fan activities at live screenings at Chijmes and Capitol Singapore from June 11 to July 20.

“Together, we want to encourage the next generation of football fans and players in Singapore to dream big, push their limits and welcome both sports and technology into their journey,” Fandi said in the statement.
