World’s largest AI data center network to be built in India with $100 billion investment
Adani Group: Taking a big step towards making India an AI superpower, Adani Group has announced a huge investment of $ 100 billion. Under this scheme, AI-ready, renewable energy-powered hyperscale data centers with 5 GW capacity will be built by 2035. The move could give rise to a $250 billion AI infrastructure ecosystem in India.
5 GW AI data center, big target by 2035
The group said it would be the world’s largest integrated energy-compute platform. Under this, data center, green energy and transmission infrastructure will be connected together. This scheme will strengthen India’s technology sovereignty and the country will become not only a consumer but also a manufacturer and exporter in the AI era.
Mega Campus in Visakhapatnam and Noida
This roadmap is based on expanding AdaniConnex’s existing 2 GW capacity to 5 GW. The country’s largest gigawatt-scale AI data center campus will be developed in Visakhapatnam, where a partnership with Google is planned. Apart from this, projects are also proposed in Noida, Hyderabad and Pune, in which talks are going on with companies like Microsoft.
The entire network will run on green energy
AI workloads consume a lot of power, so the group will emphasize renewable energy. Adani Green Energy’s 30 GW Khavda project will form the backbone of this strategy, of which 10 GW is already operational. Besides, Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) will also be developed on a large scale to ensure carbon-neutral power supply.
