Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 Produced an excellent all-round performance to register a commanding 61-run win against Gujarat Giants (GG) in the 12th match of the 2017 Indian Premier League at the BCA Stadium, Kotambi, Vadodara.
After a competitive score of 6 wickets for 178 runs, RCB women’s team led by Sayli Satghare with disciplined bowling restricted Gujarat Giants to just 117 runs for 8 wickets.
Gautami Naik gave life to RCB’s innings with the best innings of her career.
Batting first after Gujarat Giants chose to bowl, RCB suffered early setbacks when Grace Harris and Georgia Wall were out early. Captain Smriti Mandhana took charge of the innings with a comfortable 26 runs, but the responsibility of rebuilding really fell on Gautami Naik.
The young batsman took advantage of the opportunity by playing a composed and confident innings of 73 runs in 55 balls, which included seven fours and a six. Gautami displayed maturity beyond her years, punishing loose balls while rotating the strike smartly. Her crucial 60-run partnership with Mandhana restored the momentum and laid the foundation for a strong total.
Once settled, RCB effectively increased the pace in the second half of the innings. Richa Ghosh played a brisk innings, scoring 27 runs at a strike rate of 135, which kept the scoring rate healthy. Nadine de Klerk provided stability in the end, remaining unbeaten, while Shreyanka Patil delivered a brief but explosive finish.
Despite disciplined bowling from Ashley Gardner and Kashvi Gautam, Gujarat Giants conceded 21 extra runs, which took the lead. RCB’s total score is 6 wickets for 178 runs. – which was a challenging score on the Vadodara pitch.
Sayli Satghare leads RCB’s tough bowling attack
In reply, Gujarat Giants never found any momentum as wickets kept falling regularly. Sayli Satghare quickly derailed the chase by dismissing Beth Mooney and Sophie Devine during the powerplay, leaving the Giants reeling at 2 for 4.
Sayli’s spell proved decisive as he finished with impressive figures of 3/21, which also included the wicket of GG captain Gardner. His ability to extract movement from the balls and maintain a tight line kept the pressure on the batting side.
Gujarat’s middle order struggled to recover from the early loss. Anushka Sharma showed little resistance while Gardner toiled hard, scoring 54 off 43 balls, but lacked consistent support at the other end. Radha Yadav and Nadine de Klerk shared wickets, complementing Sayli’s efforts and allowing the required run rate to rise rapidly.
The Giants reached 117 for 8 at the end of the 20th over. RCB’s fielding was also fast, which added more pressure in the middle overs.
