Wreath laying ceremony on the birth anniversary of Russian poet Alexander Pushkin

New Delhi. To commemorate the International Russian Language Day and the 227th birth anniversary of the eminent Russian poet Alexander Pushkin, a special wreath laying ceremony was organized by the Sahitya Akademi at the statue of the eminent Russian poet Alexander Pushkin installed outside Rabindra Bhawan on Ferozeshah Road, Mandi House, New Delhi. The program began with the distinguished guests paying floral tributes to the poet, remembering his unique contribution to world literature.

​On this occasion, Secretary of Sahitya Akademi, Dr. Varun Gulati was present along with officials of the Russian Embassy in India. He appreciated this initiative to promote literary and cultural exchange between India and Russia. Mr. Pyotr Sizov, Press Secretary of the Russian Embassy in India, Ms. Anastasia Ilyushina, Coordinator of Youth Projects of the Russian House, New Delhi, Prof. Ranjana Banerjee, Dr. Sonu Saini, Associate Professor, Center for Russian Studies, students from various universities and organizations and many dignitaries attended the celebration.

​Under this event, an interactive workshop on ‘Literary Translation’ was also organized on 3 June 2026. Additionally, a photo exhibition showcasing important moments of Pushkin’s life and the development of Russian literary culture was inaugurated at the Russian House on 5 June 2026.
