Written in the stars: Pop star Miley Cyrus receives her own Hollywood Walk of Fame star- The Week

Miley Cyrus received the 2845th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Friday, in the Recording category. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, the organisation behind the Walk of Fame, cleverly arranged for the ceremony to be held on Friday, May 22, 2026, a date that coincides with the 20th anniversary of Miley’s iconic series Hannah Montana. This marks a significant milestone for Miley Cyrus who has been in the entertainment industry for over two decades as an actress, singer, and songwriter. She has now been immortalised alongside other pop stars like Madonna, Lady Gaga, and Christina Aguilera.

Actress Anya Taylor-Joy and fashion designer Donatella Versace graced the occasion with their presence as special guests. Anya Taylor-Joy gave a heartfelt speech praising Cyrus for being “a woman who taught an entire generation how to own their story”. She ended her speech by affectionately saying, “Miley darling, you have always been and are now quite literally, a star!”

Fashion designer Donatella Versace was next in line to pay tribute to Miley Cyrus. “Miley is an inspiration for young people and also for me. She encourages me and all of her fans to be brave in everything we do” Versace said. She also playfully added, “… if any of you guys step over Miley’s star, do it with attitude and if possible, with high heels.” Cyrus has had a long-standing relationship with Versace, frequently wearing the brand for major events, including this one, where she wore a sheer black Atelier Versace gown from the Fall 2015 collection.

Despite the presence of influential figures from the industry, Miley Cyrus’ father Billy Ray Cyrus was notably absent from the event. However, in the days leading up to the event, Billy Ray expressed his pride and support on social media. On May 8 and 9, 2026, he shared photos from Miley’s childhood. These photos were accompanied by a touching caption where he reminisced about their walks on Hollywood Boulevard. He ended with, “So proud of you. Love ya.” Miley paid tribute to him during her speech as she affectionately remembered his words of wisdom, saying, “My dad used to say that a skyscraper starts with a jackhammer”.

Miley Ray Cyrus has truly come a long way: from being a Disney Channel star to having her “name laid in gold and pink terrazzo” at Hollywood Walk of Fame. Fans and fellow artists alike are nothing short of proud of Miley and her journey.
