Team India moved towards the final, this is how the points table looks after the win against Bangladesh

The Indian cricket team defeated Bangladesh (IND vs BAN 1st Test) by a huge margin of 280 runs in the first Test match played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai and took a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. In this match, Ravichandran Ashwin made a lot of noise with both bat and ball and he was also selected as the Player of the Match for his brilliant performance.

Many heroes emerged for the Indian team in this match. Be it Ashwin's all-round performance or the centuries of Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill. However, the entire team contributed well to this victory and as a result Team India has strengthened its position in the points table of the World Test Championship (WTC 2025).

Team India has almost sealed their place at the top of the points table after their win against Bangladesh. The Rohit Sharma-led side has won seven, drawn one and lost two of the ten matches they have played. Their point percentage is 71.67, which is much better than Australia and New Zealand, who are second and third in the points table respectively.

While Bangladesh has slipped to the sixth position after this humiliating defeat. They were in the fourth position ahead of England and Sri Lanka, but due to the defeat they had to lose some important points. The Shanto-led team now has a point percentage of 39.29. After looking at this points table, it is clear that if the Indian team wins the second Test as well, then they will almost reach close to securing a place in the final and then the rest of the teams will only fight for the second position.
