Australia’s victory chariot stopped in WTC 2025-27, Kangaroo got its first defeat; Big change in the points table?

WTC Points Table Updates after AUS vs ENG, 4th Test: After losing the Ashes Series 2025-26, England made a strong comeback by defeating Australia by four wickets in the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. This victory is very special for England, because the English team has won the Boxing Day Test in Australia after almost 15 years. Earlier, England had won this test on Australian soil in 2011.

While this historic victory was celebrated in the England camp, on the other hand, Australia suffered its first defeat in the current World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle. After this defeat, important changes have also been seen in the points table of WTC.

Australia’s winning streak broken

Australia started the WTC 2025-27 campaign with a Test series against West Indies in June 2025. The Kangaroo team made a clean sweep by winning all three tests against the West Indies. After this, Australia won six consecutive Tests by winning the first three matches of the Ashes series.

However, Australia’s winning streak came to an end with the defeat in the Boxing Day Test. Despite this, the team remains at the top position in the WTC points table. Australia has played seven Tests so far, in which it has 72 points with six wins. However, its PCT has dropped from 100 to 85.71.

England did not benefit even after winning

This was England’s third win in the current WTC cycle, but despite this there was no significant improvement in the team’s ranking. England are ranked seventh with 35.19 PCT from nine Tests with three wins, five losses and one draw. He has a total of 38 points in his account. However, England’s hopes for the World Test Championship are still intact.

How is India’s position in the WTC points table?

Talking about India in the WTC table, Team India is at sixth position. India have achieved a PCT of 48.15 in nine Tests with four wins, four losses and one draw. New Zealand is at second place with 77.78 PCT. The Kiwi team has played three Tests so far, which include two wins and one draw. Defending champion South Africa remains at third position with 75 PCT. He has achieved three wins in four matches. Sri Lanka (66.67 PCT) is at fourth position and Pakistan (50 PCT) is at fifth position. At the bottom of the table are Bangladesh (16.67 PCT) and West Indies (4.17 PCT). Both the teams have not got victory till now.
