X Reacts To India Batting Collapse Vs New Zealand

X Reacts To India Batting Collapse Vs New Zealand: Social media has erupted as the Indian Cricket Team suffers a batting collapse for a second test match in a row against New Zealand.

Today is Day Two of the second of three India vs New Zealand Test matches being played at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune. It was the visitors who won the toss and decided to bat first, seeing how this was a turning track.

New Zealand batters frustrated India in the first couple of sessions of Day One. In the morning session, they scored 92 runs and lost only two wickets on a difficult pitch. Ravichandran Ashwin took both of those wickets and also took the third one. But it was right before tea break when the match took a turn as Washington Sundar took two wickets going into the break.

Washy then broke the back of the Kiwi batting order, ending the inning with a seven-wicket haul as New Zealand were bowled out for 259 within 80 overs, which was still a fine score on this track.

With about 10 overs remaining in the day’s play, India defended and tried to keep their wickets. While captain Rohit Sharma was bowled by Tim Southee in the third over off of a peach of a delivery, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill took the team to the day’s end.

On Day Two, the BlackCaps came out with all guns blazing. First, Gill lost his wicket at the team score of 50, then Jaiswal lost his wicket soon after. After this point, the batting order collapsed as India was all out for 156. Ravindra Jadeja was the team’s highest run scorer with 38, and only five batters scored runs in the two digits.

This was India’s second collapse in this series. In the first inning of the first match in Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium, India was bowled out for a dismal score of 46 and went on to lose the match by eight wickets.

Seeing how the batting order failed for a second match in a row, social media, especially X (formerly Twitter), erupted. One user commented on how New Zealand had recently lost a series to Sri Lanka on spin-friendly tracks while India is failing to best the BlackCaps at home.

Yet another user believes that the Indian Cricket Team needs to bring the likes of Cheteshwar Pujara back to anchor their innings.

But most fans were just frustrated with India’s performance, blaming a number of things for the batting collapse. Many people blamed Virat Kohli and captain Rohit Sharma, who lost their wickets after scoring 1 and 0 runs, respectively.

Finally, some users also gave flowers to the New Zealand team, who have been a step ahead of India throughout this match and the series.

In their second inning, New Zealand has taken an attacking approach to their batting. In 44 overs, they have scored 182/4 and have taken a lead of 285 runs, essentially taking the game away from the Indian Cricket Team. Rohit Sharma and Co. need a miracle from this point to save this match, because if they lose this one, it will be their first Test defeat at home since losing 2-1 to England in 2012.
