‘Ya’ new electric car launch in India before 2027! Check out the full list
The electric car market in India is set to grow rapidly in the next two years. Leading companies like Maruti Suzuki, Tata and Hyundai are gearing up to launch new electric SUVs and MPVs. Following are the 4 major electric cars coming to the Indian market before 2027:
1. Maruti YMC Electric MPV
After its ‘e Vitara’, Maruti Suzuki is working on a second electric car codenamed ‘YMC’.
- Design: Instead of a conventional MPV, it will be given a bold SUV-like front look and high seating position.
- Battery and Range: It will get two battery options. The base variant can have a 49 kWh battery and 142 hp motor, while the high variant can have a 61 kWh battery and 172 hp motor. With a large battery, this car will give a range of around 500 km.

2. Tata Sierra EV
This is going to be the biggest launch of Tata Motors this year. The production version will be introduced on June 30 and the car could go on sale in July.
- Features: This car will come in both rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) options. It will get advanced features like vehicle-to-load (V2L) charging and independent rear suspension.
- Range: This car can offer a range of up to 600 km on a single charge.

3. Tata Safari EV
Tata Motors will launch an electric version of its popular Safari SUV later this year.
- Features: The battery pack, electric motor and features of the Safari EV will be largely similar to the upcoming Tata Harrier EV. As the Safari is bigger and heavier, its range may be slightly less than the Harrier, though it is estimated to be around 600 km.
4. Hyundai HE1i Electric SUV (Hyundai HE1i)
Hyundai is currently working on a new budget (entry-level) electric SUV codenamed ‘HE1i’ which will be launched in early 2027.
- Interior: It will be given a boxy design and new look. Inside, you will get a 12.9-inch touchscreen and a 9.9-inch digital instrument cluster.
- Battery and Range: It will use Exide Energy’s LFP cells. With a large battery pack, this car will offer a range of 375 to 400 km.
