Yami Gautam Reacts To ‘Liking’ Reel Questioning Kriti Sanon’s Best Actress Win, Says She Never Relied On Cheap PR
The internet sparked controversy after users noticed Yami Gautam liking a reel that questioned Kriti Sanon’s recent award win. The activity quickly sparked debate across social media platforms. As discussions intensified and speculation grew among fans, Yami Gautam finally addressed the controversy and broke her silence.
Yami Gautam recently found herself at the center of a controversy after a simple like on social media triggered speculation involving fellow actress Kriti Sanon and her latest award win. Fans noticed that Yami had liked an Instagram reel showing Kriti Sanon waving with her trophy on one side, while a quote from Yami’s earlier interview appeared on the other. The reel drew comparisons between the actresses’ recent projects Tere Ishk Mein and Haq, which quickly fueled online chatter. Reacting to the buzz, Yami clarified that the interaction was merely an accidental click and insisted there was no hidden intent.
Yami Gautam addresses speculation over liking an Instagram reel
Yami Gautam addressed the Tere Ishk Mein versus Haq debate on her official X account, formerly Twitter. Responding to attention around her liking a reel questioning Kriti Sanon’s recent award win for Tere Ishk Mein, the actor clarified her position, explaining the context behind the like and sharing her view. “We get tagged in multiple things every day, and this appeared during an award-function reference like any other tag. It isn’t true and was definitely not done consciously, if anything, it may have been clicked accidentally.”

The actress clarified she has never depended on cheap PR tactics, emphasizing that her focus has always remained on her work and that she does not even maintain such a team. Referring to a past interview with The Hollywood Reporter that recently resurfaced online, she explained that her views on the entertainment awards system were shared years ago. The Haq actress believes that in today’s clickbait driven culture, even respected social media platforms sometimes feel tempted to highlight such remarks and turn them into gossip online today widely.

In the interview, Yami had explained that “You try everything, and it still doesn’t work. So, I’ve stopped seeking any kind of validation. If I get that award, then I am a good actress, and otherwise, I’m not. Nothing like that.” This made the entire internet split in two parts where one believed the actress should not have dragged Kriti Sanon into her PR game while others agreed that Yami is more deserving than her.
About both the films
Tere Ishk Mein, described as a spiritual sequel to Raanjhanaa, starred Dhanush as Shankar and Kriti Sanon as Mukti, and was released in theatres worldwide on November 28, 2025 officially.

Meanwhile, Haq is produced by Junglee Pictures along with Insomnia Films and Baweja Studios. The film features Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi in lead roles supported by Vartika Singh, Sheeba Chaddha, Danish Hussain and Aseem Hattangady. For the unversed, the story draws inspiration from a Supreme Court judgement in India.
