An incident that puts humanity to shame has come to light in Sanjeevani Surgical Hospital located in Babhni main market of the district. Here, the uterus of two women was removed in an unsafe manner in an illegally run nursing home. The scene seen during the raid by the Health Department has tarnished the profession of doctor.
There was a stir when the health department team led by co-nodal officer Guru Prasad raided the hospital at around 5 pm on Saturday evening. According to the information received from the sources, fearing being caught, the hospital operator locked the two women who were suffering after the operation, in the room from outside and himself absconded. The patients kept groaning in pain for hours, but they did not get help.

The cruelty of the hospital operator did not stop here. To avoid the raid, the women who were operated on were taken on foot towards the fields through the back route after about an hour. The women were made to run into the fields in stitched condition and were made to sit there and hide them. After this, he was forcibly loaded in a vehicle without number plate and sent to another private hospital. The victimized women include Budhni (Chhattisgarh) and Urmila (Bachra village).
The surprising thing was that the operator, citing his ‘superior influence’, intimidated the journalists who had come for coverage and threatened them with dire consequences. The co-nodal officers present on the spot remained mute spectators, due to which questions are being raised on their functioning. The operator openly challenged and said that the officers will not be able to uproot anything from me. According to reliable sources, a gang of brokers operating in Bhabhani Bazaar lures poor and illiterate women and brings them here, where dangerous practices like hysterectomy and illegal abortions are being done without specialist doctors and without standards.
Local people say that this hospital has become a disaster for patients. Giving a formal statement on the matter, co-nodal officer Guru Prasad said that a notice has been issued to the hospital. However, the question arises whether mere giving of notice is sufficient? Why was strict legal action (FIR) not taken against the operator who played with the lives of patients and challenged the authorities? Isn’t making patients run to the fields immediately after operation an attempt to murder? How were such major operations being carried out without registration and experts? The biggest question is why does the administration seem helpless in front of an illegal hospital operator?
