Yamuna Bank Cleanliness Campaign: Mega cleaning drive conducted at 28 ghats of Delhi

A massive cleanliness campaign was launched today by the Delhi government with the aim of promoting public awareness and conservation of river Yamuna. Under this campaign, cleaning work was done simultaneously on 28 major Yamuna ghats of the capital, in which thousands of volunteers participated enthusiastically.

This mega-campaign was led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta herself. He reached the banks of Yamuna in Geeta Colony and helped in the cleaning work. During this, he said that the clean, pure and uninterrupted form of Yamuna will return only when public participation is ensured in it. Along with the Chief Minister, all the government ministers, MLAs, party leaders and workers were also seen shoulder to shoulder with the volunteers doing Shramdaan.

Thousands of volunteers from more than 500 social, religious and educational organizations made great efforts in the ‘Yamuna Bank Cleanliness Campaign’. These organizations not only supported the cleaning work, but also played an important role in making people aware about river conservation.

On this occasion, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized that the government will do its work with full dedication, but citizens will also have to fulfill their responsibilities to clean Yamuna. He said that to keep the river clean, we have to avoid throwing plastic and other waste in the river and be conscious about water conservation.
