Yash Chopra launched several actors and turned their careers around, including Anushka Sharma, Arjun Kapoor and Poonam Dhillon. Amongst many actors that the ace director introduced to the film industry, there’s one actress from the ’90s who enchanted the audience with her bold and daring characters in her movies – Sonam Khan.

Sonam Khan made her debut with Vijay in 1988, alongside Rajesh Khanna, Rishi Kapoor, Hema Malini and Anil Kapoor. Known for her standout roles in films like Ajooba and Tridevher timeless songs, like Tirchi Topiwalecontinue to be favorites among audiences.

Recently, the actor shared a few throwback photos from one of her photoshoots, where she can be seen exuding an intense and bold vibe. In the pictures, she can be seen striking a pose amidst the bushes.

In the caption, she revealed an unforgettable incident, involving her mother, who was not happy with the photos. She wrote, “When I got a tight slap! I thought I was gonna look great and was wearing a skin color short dress which was hidden by the tall grass around. So when the images came out, my mom came with the magazine and gave me a tight slap and tore the magazine up. I may have been bold at that time, but my parents were always very protective about me. Nonetheless, I was always a rebel with a cause. At least that’s what I thought!”

About Sonam Khan

Born as Bakhtavar Khan, the actress embraced the screen name ‘Sonam’, as suggested by Yash Chopra. She is the granddaughter of actor Murad and Raza Murad is her maternal uncle. After Vijay, she starred in numerous hit films, including Tridev (1989), Mitti Aur Sona (1989), Kroadh (1990), Kodama Simham (1990), Ajooba (1991), Fateh (1991) and Vishwatma (1992).

In 1991, Sonam Khan married director Rajiv Rai and soon after, she quit acting to focus on her family, and they eventually settled in Europe. In 2001, the duo separated and in 2016, they were officially divorced. In 2023, the actress moved back and made her first public appearance at Mumbai’s Jio World Plaza. Reportedly, she’s currently living in Mumbai with her son.
