Jaipur, Dec 25: A special POCSO court in Jaipur on Wednesday denied anticipatory bail to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fast bowler Yash Dayal in an alleged rape case involving a minor girl. The decision means Dayal could now face arrest as the investigation continues.
The court said the allegations are serious and at this stage it is not appropriate to grant pre-arrest protection. The case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act because the victim was a minor at the time of the incident.
Dayal’s lawyer had argued that the bail plea should be granted, but the judge ruled that evidence collected so far does not suggest a false implication. The order makes it likely that Dayal could be taken into custody as part of the ongoing probe.
