Yash Raj Films rejected Netflix’s offer of Rs 215 crore, ‘Alpha’ will be released in theaters only.
New Delhi. A new update has come out regarding Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh’s most awaited film ‘Alpha’. According to reports, Yash Raj Films received an offer of Rs 215 crore from Netflix for a digital premiere, which was rejected by the production house. Raj Films spokesperson clarified in the official statement that the film will now be released only in theaters and the company does not put its films directly on streaming platforms.
‘Alpha’ is a spy thriller, which was announced in 2024 and since then there has been a lot of buzz about it. The film belongs to the woman-centric action genre and will bring to the audience the first on-screen pairing of Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh. Yash Raj Films said in a statement, “We want to do something special with Alpha. With the country’s best actor Alia and young actor Sharvari, we hope that this film will entertain the audience and prove that the audience will love it as much as they have loved other action films.”
The spokesperson clarified that Yash Raj Films always gives importance to cinematic experience and that is why the digital premiere offer of the film was rejected. This film will be released directly to the audience in theaters and will be an action thriller entry on the big screen.
The release date of the film was earlier fixed for 25 December 2025, but it was postponed to 17 April 2026. According to reports, the reason for postponement was to give more time to VFX and to avoid clash with Salman Khan’s film ‘Battle of Galwan’.
Apart from ‘Alpha’, Alia Bhatt’s next films are also in discussion. She has also worked in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film ‘Love and War’ with Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. However, the shooting of ‘Alpha’ has not started yet and fans are eagerly waiting for its release date and updates.
This decision of Yash Raj Films shows that they give priority to theatrical release and want to take their big budget films to the audience on the big screen. The pairing of Alia and Sharvari, the spy-thriller genre of the film and the cinema experience are expected to make this film the most talked about and biggest release of 2026.
At present, not much information has come from Yash Raj Films regarding the release date and promotion of the film, but the curiosity of the fans is at its peak. The decision to turn down the offer of a digital premiere of the film and focus on its big screen release is preparing the audience for a thrilling experience of ‘Alpha’ on the big screen.
