Bengaluru: Kannada superstar Yash has shared fresh insights into his much-awaited film Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, saying the film is far more than a high-octane action entertainer. Speaking during the promotions at San Diego Comic-Con, the actor stressed that while Toxic features large-scale action, its emotional core is what truly drives the story.
Yash said audiences can expect an intense cinematic experience that blends stylised action with strong emotional storytelling, adding that emotion is what gives every action sequence its meaning.
‘Emotion with action is important’
Talking about the film’s narrative, Yash explained that action alone was never the objective.
“For me, emotion with action is important. That’s what Toxic is. Every action sequence needs emotion behind it,” he said.
The actor described the film as a roller-coaster ride packed with scale, intensity and emotional depth.
“It is a roller-coaster. It is deep. It is larger than life. That’s the texture of the film. But it is emotional. I think that combination works,” he said.
Praise for action director JJ Perry
Yash also spoke about working with renowned Hollywood stunt coordinator JJ Perry, best known for the John Wick franchise.
Calling himself a lifelong fan of action films, the actor said collaborating with Perry was a dream come true.
“I love action. I’m a fan of action movies, and I get excited whenever I get to perform action scenes. JJ has done a great job. I’ve always admired the action sequences he has choreographed,” Yash said.
Same philosophy applies to Ramayana
Yash revealed that the same storytelling approach has been followed in his other ambitious project, Ramayana.
He said audiences would witness spectacular action in the mythological epic as well, but emphasised that emotional storytelling remains equally important.
“Even in Ramayana, you’ll see fantastic action. But emotion is equally important,” he said.

The film stars Yash alongside Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth. It has been shot simultaneously in Kannada and English and will be released in multiple languages worldwide.
