Yashasvi Jaiswal, the young and talented opener of the Indian national cricket team, made history on Saturday (October 26) and became the next fastest Indian to score 1000 runs in tests played at home. The left-handed 22-year old cricketer, reached the milestone while batting for the second time in the second Test match against New Zealand, which is being played at MCA Stadium in Pune. He surpassed former Indian batsman Virender Sehwag’s record to claim the first position.
Among other things, whilst Jaiswal completed the limit for thousand runs in India in 1315 deliveries, almost one hundred balls faster than him reached the target former Sehwag who completed it in 1436 balls.
Going by the number of runs given as target in the fit test they will also have to consider having Jaiswal, score big innings for india in these ongoing tests otherwise this will be the first time in history that the hosts will lose a first Test series at home since 2012. New-Zealand’s second innings subsided for 255 runs thus announcing a target of 359 runs on india for them to win the match. Such 300+ runs targets have been successfully chased down in India only once, that too against England in MA Chidambaram Stadium at Chennai in December 2008.
India has never lost two Test matches internally within a span of one match against New Zealand. They must protect this record as it too seems very difficult for India. If the Kiwis’ win this Bangalore Test match then this will be the first time ever that they will win a Test Series overrunning India in India.
This will be made more impressive by the fact that the Black Caps are playing the current series without their iconic batsman and captain Kane Williamson. This is a remarkable achievement considering that the leading run scorer for New Zealand in Test matches ever, Williamson has also been injured and has not yet made it to the ongoing series in India.
The kiwis had arrived in India after losing a two-match test series to sri lanka in the island nation last month, but they have performed well in the current series notably with the bat and with the ball.
