Year Ender 2025: How was Team India’s journey from Test to T20, see complete report card

The year 2025 was a mixed one for Indian cricket. This year, while Team India performed brilliantly in the limited overs format, it had to go through many difficult times in Test cricket. Before stepping into the new year, the Indian team and its supporters are remembering both the achievements and disappointments of this year. The special thing was that this year Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli said goodbye to Test cricket, due to which this year also became historic.

Test cricket performance was not as per expectations

Talking about Test cricket, India’s performance in 2025 was not as per expectations. Team India played a total of 10 test matches in the entire year, out of which it won 4, lost 5 matches and one match was a draw. The final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 was played this year, in which India had to face defeat by 6 wickets. After this, the Indian team went on a tour of England under the captaincy of Shubman Gill, where the five-match Test series ended in a 2-2 draw. At home, India won the series 2-0 against West Indies, but after this, the team was disappointed by the 0-2 defeat in the home Test series against South Africa.

Great game of Indian team in ODI cricket

However, the Indian team played brilliantly in ODI cricket. In 2025, India played a total of 14 ODI matches, out of which it won 11 and lost only 3 matches. The biggest achievement of this year was the title of Champions Trophy 2025, where India won the trophy by defeating New Zealand by 4 wickets in the final. Apart from this, India also won the ODI series against strong teams like England and South Africa. However, Team India had to face defeat by 1-2 in the ODI series against Australia.

India’s record in T20 format is praiseworthy

India’s record in T20 format was also commendable. Under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav, Team India played 21 T20 matches in the year 2025. Of these, India won 16 matches, lost only 3 matches and 2 matches had no result. This year India did not lose any T20 series, which shows the continuity of the team. Winning the T20 Asia Cup 2025 was the biggest achievement of this format. Apart from this, India also won the T20 series against England, Australia and South Africa.

Overall, the journey of the Indian team in the year 2025 was full of ups and downs. While the need for improvement was seen in Test cricket, India proved its strength in ODI and T20.
