Yellow alert of dense fog in Delhi, 50 trains late, air service affected, weather department warns

The weather has once again taken a turn in the national capital Delhi and surrounding areas. A blanket of dense fog has engulfed the city, which has significantly affected normal life. In view of the situation, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for the coming days. Even though technically the temperature is being recorded slightly above normal, the combination of icy winds and fog has made people feel the harsh winter.

Despite normal temperature, due to western winds and moisture, coldness is being felt during the day and night.

If we look at the data, the minimum temperature of Delhi remains between 8 to 10 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature remains between 20 to 22 degrees Celsius. This is about 1.5 to 3 degrees more than the normal temperature, but in reality the pain of winter is being felt much more than this. Even after the sun shines during the day, melting continues due to the moisture present in the air and the cold winds blowing from the western direction. Especially late at night and in the morning, due to dense fog, the body is feeling a biting cold.

Yellow fog alert issued, traffic in trouble due to visibility being less than 100 meters

In view of the changing severity of the weather, a yellow alert has been issued, which will remain in effect for the next few days. The warning clearly states that in many areas of Delhi and NCR, the level of visibility may drop to 100 to 200 meters in the morning. At some places it may be less than 100 meters. Low visibility is directly affecting road and rail traffic, due to which morning commuters are facing a lot of problems.

Due to dense fog, there was a brake on speed, more than 50 trains were delayed and many air flights were also affected.

The worst effect of fog is being seen on transport services. More than 50 trains going to and from Delhi are running late by several hours from their scheduled time. Keeping safety in mind, Railways has set speed limits for trains on many routes. Same is the situation with air travel also. Many flights have been delayed and some even canceled due to low visibility in the morning. Passengers have been advised to check the status of their flight before leaving for the airport so that they do not have to wait long at the airport.

Advisory issued to use fog lights and take special care of health while traveling

It has been advised to take special precautions regarding health and safety amid changing weather and dense fog. Experts say that while leaving the house in the morning and evening, make sure to use warm clothes, muffler and mask. Especially children, elderly and respiratory or heart patients need to be extra careful. At the same time, drivers have been appealed to use fog lights while driving, keep the speed slow and maintain proper distance from the vehicle moving ahead. Passengers going towards railway and bus stations have been instructed to leave home with some extra time so that any accident or haste can be avoided.
