  • Naukasana

Naukasana is shaped like a boat. This yoga asana affects the abdominal muscles and helps in strengthening the abs. Additionally, it improves the circulation of blood and oxygen around the stomach.

  • First of all, lie straight on your back.
  • Keep both the legs together and keep the hands next to the body.
  • Take a deep breath and while exhaling, slowly raise the chest and legs.
  • Extend both hands straight towards the feet, so that the eyes, fingers and toes remain in a straight line.
  • During this time you will feel a stretch in the abdominal muscles.
  • Remain in this posture for a few seconds while breathing at a normal pace.
  • Then while exhaling, slowly return to the starting position.
  • 3–4 rounds of this asana can be done daily.
  • Chaturanga Dandasana

Chaturanga Dandasana is also called Four-Limbed Staff Pose. This is a variation of the low plank, which can help strengthen the body as well as tone the abdominal muscles.

Method of doing Chaturanga Dandasana

  • First of all sit in Vajrasana.
  • Now move forward with the help of hands and come into plank pose.
  • Keep the palms just below the shoulders.
  • Keep the legs straight and balance the body on the toes.
  • Exhale and bend the elbows and lower the body until the shoulders and elbows are in a straight line.
  • Then slowly return back to plank pose.
  • After this, come to Vajrasana and rest.
  • Repeat this asana as per your capacity.
  • Vashishthasana

Vashishthasana or Side Plank Pose is a yoga asana that increases body balance and strength. In this, the weight of the entire body is balanced on one hand and one leg. This asana helps in activating the abdominal and waist muscles.

  • First of all come into Adho Mukha Svanasana.
  • Then come into plank pose.
  • Now turn the body to the right and place the left foot on top of the right foot.
  • Balance the body with the help of right hand and leg.
  • Raise the left hand straight upward.
  • Keep the body in a straight line from head to heels.
  • Look at the raised hand.
  • Remain in this posture for a few seconds while breathing normally.
  • Then repeat the same process on the other side also.
  • Lateral Urdh Hastasana

Parsva Urdhva Hastasana is also called Standing Half Moon Pose. It helps in working on the excess fat accumulated on either side of the waist and improves body balance.

Method of doing Parsva Urdhva Hastasana

  • Stand straight in Tadasana.
  • Breathe at normal pace for some time.
  • Now taking a deep breath, raise both the hands up and make Namaskar Mudra.
  • Keeping the spine straight, slowly tilt the body to the right.
  • Remain in this posture for a few seconds.
  • Then inhale and come back to the middle.
  • Now repeat the same process on the left side.
  • Pawanmuktasana

Pawanmuktasana is also called gas release pose. It is considered helpful in activating the stomach muscles as well as providing relief from problems like gas, indigestion and flatulence.

Method of doing Pawanmuktasana

  • First of all, lie straight on your back.
  • Keep both the legs together and keep the hands close to the body.
  • Take a deep breath.
  • While exhaling, bring both the knees towards the chest.
  • Place the thighs with light pressure on the stomach.
  • Holding the feet with both hands, try to bring the knees closer to the chin or neck.
  • Remain in this posture for a few seconds.
  • While exhaling, tighten the grip of your hands a little and loosen it while inhaling.
  • Then slowly return to normal position and repeat the process.
