Lucknow, To prevent road accidents, radium bands will be tied around the neck of cows. Radium bands will be fitted around the necks of the cattle of farmers and cattle herders of villages located near all the major roads including the highways of the state. Under this item, an amount of Rs 50 lakh will be spent from the reserve fund constituted under Uttar Pradesh Cow Protection and Promotion Fund Rules-2019. A government order in this regard has been issued on Monday.

In the instructions issued to the District Magistrates, Principal Secretary of the Milk Development Department, K Ravindra Nayak, citing information received from newspapers, public representatives and other mediums, has said that the cattle herders of the villages located near the national highways, state highways and routes should provide proper shelter to the cattle for grazing. The Prayaru road is crossed while being taken to the pasture.

Information about large-scale accidents is being received while crossing the road. Cows are getting injured due to collision with vehicles. By inserting radium strip, the cows will be visible from a distance, along with their safety, the people traveling on the road will also remain alert and alert from any sudden accident. Livestock Development Minister Dharampal Singh has instructed veterinary officers to inspect cow shelter sites twice a week. In the review meeting, he also instructed the nodal officers of the districts to inspect the shelter sites at regular intervals.

The work of establishing cow protection centers should be done on priority basis and all the incomplete works should be completed by February-2025. 12,08,088 destitute cows have been protected at 7589 cow shelter sites. Principal Secretary of Livestock Department K Ravindra Nayak, Special Secretary Devendra Pandey, Director of Animal Husbandry Department Dr. PN Singh and other officers were present in the meeting.
