Yogi government’s big attack on illegal drugs, FIR against 128 firms for misuse of codeine, know the whole matter

Lucknow, 6 December. Yogi government is continuously taking strict action against the illegal drug dealers who push the youth of the state into the trap of drugs. On the instructions of CM Yogi, major action has been taken by ANTF (Anti Narcotics Task Force) and Food Safety and Drug Administration in the entire state. In this sequence, FSDA is taking prompt action to effectively control illegal storage, purchase, sale and distribution of codeine cough syrup and narcotics category medicines across the state.

In this special campaign, illegal narcotic and codeine drugs worth lakhs have been seized across the state, while 128 FIRs have been registered so far. At the same time, more than half a dozen illegal drug dealers have been arrested and put behind bars. Commissioner Food Safety and Drug Administration, Dr. Roshan Jacob said that as per the instructions of the Chief Minister, till now inspections/raids have been conducted on establishments in the entire state and medicines worth lakhs have been seized.

Till further analysis of the records found suspicious in the investigation, the sale of codeine syrup and narcotic medicines has been banned in more than two dozen medical stores. Intensive investigation of suspicious medical stores is going on as a special campaign to check illegal movement of drugs containing codeine/narcotics/psychotropic category across the state.

He said that information related to illegal storage, purchase, sale or movement of counterfeit and misused medicines can be given on the WhatsApp number issued by the department. Taking decisive action against the sale and storage of illegal narcotic drugs, the Food Safety and Drug Administration Department has conducted raids in many districts and strict action was taken under the NDPS Act.

Commissioner Dr. Roshan Jacob said that during the campaign, a total of 128 FIRs were registered in 28 districts. These include 38 in Varanasi, 16 in Jaunpur, 8 in Kanpur Nagar, 6 in Ghazipur, 4 in Lakhimpur Kheri, 4 in Lucknow and Bahraich, Bijnor, Prayagraj, Pratapgarh, Sitapur, Sonbhadra, Balrampur, Rae Bareli, Sant Kabir Nagar, Hardoi, Shravasti, Siddharthnagar, Unnao, Basti, Ambedkarnagar, Azamgarh, 52 FIRs were registered in districts like Saharanpur, Bareilly, Sultanpur, Chandauli, Mirzapur etc.
