Yogi government’s decision, now government schools of UP will open only on 25th June every year

To make the basic education system of Uttar Pradesh more result-oriented, disciplined and quality-oriented than ever before, the Yogi government has prepared a mega blueprint of major reforms. In line with the vision and priorities of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Additional Chief Secretary, Basic and Secondary Education Department, Partha Sarathi Sen Sharma has presented a brand new and comprehensive roadmap of the department to the public through a statewide YouTube live interaction. Lakhs of teachers, Shikshamitras, instructors and education experts of the state directly connected with this big digital dialogue and understood the new policies of the government.

The biggest and historic change of this new education roadmap has been made regarding the operating hours and holidays of schools. In order to completely eliminate the uncertainty of frequently extending holidays due to the scorching heat and to ensure minimum 220 teaching days in a year under the National Education Policy (NEP), now all the council schools of the state will open from June 25 every year.

Classroom is the real center of education reform, NIPUN Mission gets major expansion

During the YouTube live conversation, the Additional Chief Secretary said in clear words that no matter how good the policies are on paper, the real change in the education system comes from within the ‘classroom’ and our teachers are the strongest link to this change. With this thinking in mind, the government has taken two major policy decisions. The scope of this important mission of basic literacy has now been extended from Class 3 directly to Class 5. Under this, very clear learning targets are being set for language, English, mathematics and environmental studies. On 6th July, the administrative and academic system of the entire state is going to take a collective oath to make all the districts ‘Nipun Janpad’.

Second phase of ‘DEAR’ campaign and ‘School Chalo’ to prevent dropout children

The second phase of ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’ is going to start in Uttar Pradesh from 1st July. This time the entire focus of the government is on bringing ‘out of school’ i.e. drop-out children back to school. For this work, the help of birth records and local inputs available with Asha workers will be taken and such children will be identified and re-enrolled, so that children do not leave their studies after class 5.

Apart from this, special ‘catch-up’ classes will be run in schools for children who have fallen behind in studies. Also, unique and fun activities like ‘Drop Everything and Read’ (DEAR) are being made mandatory in schools to develop the culture of reading among children. Not only this, twice a year ‘Holistic Progress Report Card’ of the children will be prepared and shared with the parents in the meeting.

UP teachers get cashless treatment of ₹ 5 lakh and 21,000 new recruitments.

Along with major reforms in the education system, the Yogi government has also made a big announcement in the direction of teacher welfare. Now all the regular teachers, Shikshamitras and instructors of the state are being given cashless medical facility (cashless treatment) of up to Rs 5 lakh in case of serious illnesses. Apart from this, with the aim of strengthening the primary education system, the new recruitment process of about 11 thousand new teachers and 10 thousand instructors in urban areas is also being carried forward rapidly, due to which an atmosphere of great enthusiasm is being seen in the entire teacher community.

At the concluding session of the dialogue, giving a beautiful example of the great litterateur Munshi Premchand, the Additional Chief Secretary made a passionate appeal to all the teachers to remain connected with continuous study and knowledge acquisition, so that in the coming days, Uttar Pradesh can emerge as the best and exemplary model of basic education in front of the entire country.
