Yogi roared in the Assembly: SP-Congress opened ‘poll’, said – “Opposition is cursed by the curse of women”
Lucknow: In the special session of Uttar Pradesh Assembly, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has made his sharpest attack so far on the opposition, especially Samajwadi Party and Congress. During the discussion on ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Act’, CM Yogi exposed the entire ‘charge sheet’ of the opposition. He directly put Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav in the dock and said that the parties which are talking about women’s rights today, had strongly opposed women’s reservation in the Parliament.
“Even a chameleon should feel shy after seeing your color.”
Taking a jibe at SP, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the conduct of opposition parties is such that even a chameleon would feel ashamed. He reminded that when the proposal for women’s reservation was made in 2019, SP, Congress, DMK and TMC together had dropped it and congratulated each other. Yogi said, “Your color is one thing in Parliament and another in Lucknow Assembly. You protest in Delhi and become well-wishers after coming here.”
Account from guest house incident to Badaun
Yogi Adityanath explored the history of SP and discussed the famous incident of 1995. State Guest House Scandal Mentioned. He said that the party which tried to tarnish the dignity of a Dalit woman Chief Minister (Mayawati), how can it talk about women’s safety today? Reminding the controversial statements of SP leaders on Badaun incident and Bulandshahr gangrape, he said, “You all are cursed by the curse of women.”
‘Black history’ of double engine government vs SP
Giving details of development schemes, the Chief Minister said that during the two and a half years of SP rule, not a single poor person got a house and the opposition used to make fun of him in the name of toilet.
- toilet: SP built only 40 lakh toilets in two and a half years, whereas the BJP government built more than 2 crore toilets in one and a half years.
- Accommodation: 4 crore poor people in the country and 65 lakh in UP got houses, most of which are in the name of women.
- Security: Yogi claimed that after 2017, there has been a huge reduction in crimes against women in UP. There has been a 45% decline in murder cases and 67% decline in rape cases.
“Congress was anti-women from Shahbano to triple talaq”
Taking the Congress to task, CM Yogi said that the downfall of Congress started with the Shah Bano case, when it surrendered before the clerics. He said that Congress had made its anti-women face clear by opposing the abolition of the evil practice like triple talaq. Yogi stressed that now women will not just be kept as beneficiaries of schemes, but they will be given the command of leadership by giving them 33% reservation in policy-making.
