In fact, during a recent interview, Imtiaz Ali had told why he felt that Deepika Padukone was the most perfect to play the character of Veronica in ‘Cocktail’. He had said that at that time Deepika had a “good girl” image among the people, but he had seen a different and cool style of Deepika in parties. For this reason he felt that Deepika could play a free-spirited character like Veronica brilliantly.
However, some people on social media started taking this statement of Imtiaz in a wrong way. After the controversy escalated, the filmmaker himself came forward and gave clarification. While sharing a post on Instagram Story, he said that his statement was completely funny and in a light tone, he did not intend to hurt Deepika in any way.
Describing Deepika Padukone as his close friend, Imtiaz wrote in his post that he knows that Deepika understands him very well. He said that in this life he can never intentionally hurt Deepika.
