You will do whatever you want…Supreme Court’s stern rebuke to YouTuber Elvish Yadav in snake case, said – gave wrong message to the society
New Delhi : Famous YouTuber and Bigg Boss winner Elvish Yadav’s troubles seem to be increasing once again. In the famous snake venom case, the Supreme Court has strongly reprimanded Elvish and raised questions on his conduct. The bench of Justices MM Sundaresh and N Kotishwar Singh made it clear that being an influential person, he has more responsibility. The court has issued strict instructions to continue the investigation of the case under the Wildlife Protection Act.
Wrong message sent to general public
Let us tell you that the Supreme Court adopted a very strict tone during the hearing. The court said that if a popular person was allowed to use voiceless and helpless animals in this manner, it would send a wrong message to the general public. The bench stressed that snakes are a protected species and legally we cannot cause any harm to them. The court raised questions on Elvish’s petition in which he had challenged the criminal action.
defense defense
At the same time, Elvish Yadav’s lawyer Mukta Gupta argued in the court that those snakes did not belong to his client. He told that Elvish had only participated in a music video as a guest appearance. It was someone else’s responsibility to bring the snakes and handle them. The lawyer also claimed that the producer had taken necessary permissions for the video shoot and the teeth or venom sac of those snakes were not already present.
Court laid emphasis on Wildlife Act
Despite the arguments of the defense, the Supreme Court has summoned a new investigation report. The bench said that it would have to see whether official permission was actually taken for the use of snakes. Justice Sundaresh made it clear that even if the main FIR is closed, the investigation into violations of the Wildlife Protection Act will continue. The court has asked the prosecution to file a detailed report within two weeks so that the truth of the violation of law can be revealed.
legal debate on python
An interesting twist came during the hearing when the complainant claimed that a poison sac was present in the recovered python. On this, Justice Kotishwar Singh interrupted and asked how can a python be poisonous? He explained that pythons kill their prey not by poison but by pressing them with their body. The court said that it will reach any conclusion only on the basis of technical reports and in future will closely examine the seriousness of the violation of law.
What is the whole controversy?
This entire controversy dates back to November 2023, when Noida Police had raided a rave party. Police had received information that snake venom was being served there. A total of 9 poisonous snakes including cobra were recovered in the raid. This action was taken on the complaint of BJP MP Maneka Gandhi’s NGO. Elvish Yadav was also arrested in this sensitive case and he had to spend a few days behind the bars.
